PopImage
December '99

Well, happy holidays and welcome to the December issue of PopImage. I'd like to start off by publicly thanking everyone whos helped make PopImage what it is. I'm very proud of the magazine and what we've done so far, and plan for the future, and I couldn't have done any of it with the wonderful people who I was smart enough to surround myself to cover my own uselessness. I may have come up with the idea for the mag, but its blossomed into something bigger, shinier and much, much better then I could have ever hoped for. Thanks guys, youre the best staff that a guy could ask for.

Thanks also to the readers and the scores of pros that have supported us along the way. All our hard work wouldnt mean much if no one was reading it, and we've gotten some excellent feedback and had some wonderful things said about us. Please give us more, we love hearing what people think about the site.

I better stop gushing now, because I promised myself that I wouldnt cry.

Now, onto things less mushy.

As always, be sure to check out our wonderful and sexy PopNews section to find out whats what in the world of comics. And remember, if you're a comic company who wants to give us a press release or you're a snoopy copy boy who's overheard something juicy, e-mail Christopher Butcher here and tell him all about it.

And Attitude is chock full of industry ranting this month, including a Pro Rant from new Mr. Majestic artist Eric Canete as well as many of our excellent regular columns.

This month, seeing as how it's the dawn of a new millennium, we thought we'd take a break from our normal ProFile format and look to the future. So ladies and lads, weve decided to look at the Creators that the PopImage staff thinks are going to set the comics world on fire in the coming years. We've done some fantastic interviews and review of our Pro Files of the Next Millennium. Take a look at the creators that you should be reading.

This months Industrial has some excellent interviews with the man, the myth, the legend Jamie Delano, as well as the freshly incarcerated, er, I mean married Darick Robertson.

Join us in the Gutter Press this month as the PopImage staff teaches you How2B Sin Citys Marv, takes you Beyond Howard the Duck, and gives you not one, but two, Six of Ones with Lea Hernandez and Jhonen Vasquez.

This months reviews section is simply bursting with fruity goodness. Our hard working staff of reviewers tells you the way it is with such powerhouse books as the excellent (shut up, I'm allowed a little bit of commentary) Goodbye Chunky Rice 100 Bullets, Transmetropolitan, Hellboy Jr., and the new Sandman hard cover graphic novel, Dream Hunters. Meanwhile, we take you on a trip back in time as our Retro Review takes a look at Sandman: The Doll's House

And finally, we see another installment of our on-line comic RUST. If you havent read this superb new work of original fiction, you are missing one excellent read.

Well, that's all from me for now, we'll see you next month, assuming that the world doesn't end. If the New Year does usher in the Armageddon, then 'Id just like to leave you with one parting thought. This world may not have been perfect, not everyone may have been nice, but I certainly can't say it hasn't been fun.

No go to our message forum and tell me how you plan on watching the world be destroyed!

Happy Holidays
